This weekend saw me making the journey down to Silverstone, a great excuse to get out the house and do blokey things like looking at really fast cars and get stuck in badly managed traffic.
The whole of the British media industry were in a frenzy today (OK, so it was mainly just the Daily Heil struggling to find something to write about due to a shortage of immigrant, Muslim, gypsy, wheelie bin, cancer cures, Diana and anti-BBC material) telling us how the county was going to quite literally melt in a 31 degree celcius heatwave.
Stuart Pearce has just demonstrated that this notion that penaty shootouts are some form of “lottery” is completely 
nonsensical.

The mass media and no doubt millions of bloggers, tweeters and Facebookers have all done their own tributes or even critiques over the life of Michael Jackson, who died of a heart attack last night.
Well, that’s it. Setanta Sports have finally packed their things (and their 200+ employees) and left the building.
After failing to come up with the several million pounds that they needed to hold on to their flagship products, the Irish pay-TV broadcaster has shut it’s British arm for good in a chapter that seems eerily similar to that of ITV Digital’s demise.
The media seemed to buy in to Alan Shearer’s recent appointment as Newcastle United manager sure enough. The “messiah” and all of the other cliches were trotted out ad-nausium and those who like to wear their replica shirts and descend on St James’ Park at the slightest outrage were appeased.
Not surprisingly I suppose, this feature never really got much of a response. In fact, it was only the second darts article ever published by Sportingo at the time so I was already aware that my target audience was fairly niche.
